About Dr Corey  Dyer, Osteopath

When Corey heard about Osteopathy at 16, he immediately knew that was what he wanted to do. “The holistic and encompassing philosophy of Osteopathy was a natural fit for my way of thinking and I always have wanted to do something that helped people” he says.

“Being in pain really affects people’s quality of life. It is great relief for people to know that they do not have to be in pain, even if the pain has been there a long time.”

Corey studied in the inaugural intake of the double degree at Victoria University and finished his Masters degree in 1998, entering private practice. He spent 3 years working in multi-disciplinary and Osteopathic Clinics before establishing Southside Osteopathic Clinic, one of the first clinics to offer Cranial Osteopathy in the area.

When asked what he likes about Osteopathic practice, Corey says “I love that my patients benefit from coming to see me. I love seeing them develop over time. The way they walk out after a treatment standing taller, more in their centre and looking satisfied and ready to meet the world. Most of all I love that Osteopathy has allowed me to be useful to people, and I am very grateful for that.”

Corey enjoys furthering his education and has completed many postgraduate courses with the Sutherland Cranial Teaching foundation and within the Biodynamics program. He says “Coming back from courses not only gives me new skills but also freshens my view and I find it very motivating. The wisdom shared from very experienced Osteopaths over their career is invaluable.”

Having taught anatomy to yoga teachers for a number of years, Corey enjoys working with both yoga teachers and their students, helping with injuries or just to improve their yoga practice. He also looks after many professional dancers in Melbourne, especially in the contemporary field.

In practice, Corey works frequently with back pain, headaches and joint injuries. “Being in pain really affects people’s quality of life. It is great relief for people to know that they do not have to be in pain, even if the pain has been there a long time.”
